Legality of Bankshot Game in Bars Questioned Again

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The question of whether a new game with large jackpots that is in bars across the state amounts to illegal gambling or a legal game of skill is now before a judge.

John Fox, creator of the Bankshot game, told The Associated Press on Friday that two machines were seized in McCook? by the State Patrol last week and that the owner was ticketed for having gambling devices.

Fox's Omaha-based company is asking for a temporary restraining order against the state so that more of the roughly 450 machines across the state aren't confiscated. The company is also asking the court to declare the games legal.

Attorney General Jon Bruning's office and the State Patrol would not answer questions and said the matter is under investigation.
